Located in the historic 1897 Lachicotte House in downtown Columbia, South Carolina, our office carries a story that began more than a century ago. Charleston native Philip Howard Lachicotte moved to Columbia in 1883 and built a successful jewelry business on Richardson, now Main Street. His success led to the construction of this Queen Anne style home in 1897.
The asymmetrical design is distinguished by its Chippendale-inspired gingerbread balustrade, a defining feature of the front porch. Look closely and you will notice something familiar. The patterns in that balustrade inspired the design of the “H” in our logo. The same attention to detail seen in the craftsmanship of this home guides the way we approach our work for clients.
The property remained in the Lachicotte family until 1978, when it was thoughtfully adapted for office use. Today, its craftsmanship and character continue to influence the way we think about heritage, reputation and time.
